1) Markus Zusak: I don't have a lot of reasoning behind this choice. When I set out to write this post, Marcus Zusak didn't immediately spring to mind (he was the last of the three I chose), but the more I think about it, the more I see that he really is one of my favourite YA authors. Not only did he write The Book Thief (a book that left me speechless), but he's extremely inspirational... I really don't know what better way to reinforce this point than by showing you this clip:
2) John Green Needless to say, John Green was the first to come to mind, and he is (maybe) my favourite YA author. In his writing he can weave in so many different emotions, and he can really play with the reader's mind. When I pick up one of his books, I instantly know that it will make me laugh, cry and think... When it comes to writing books, he is just brilliant. But of course, that's not the only reason he's (maybe) my favourite YA author. I don't want to go into too much detail about this point (as I'd probably bore you) but him and his brother have a YouTube channel which is incredibly amazing... Aha, great use of vocabulary from me there.
3) JK Rowling I know many would consider this a cliched choice, but I really don't see how I could make a list of my favourite YA authors without including her. JK Rowling has inspired millions – and I'm not just talking about her books! In 2004, she was named the first person to become a billionaire from writing books... But in 2012 (I think) she lost her billionaire status as she gave so much money to charity... I think that justifies her position as one of my favourite YA authors!

I LOVE JK Rowling....
ReplyDeleteI got a John Green book from my library today and I can't wait to read it!
I read The Book Theif too but I haven't read anymore of his works. Have you?
I was going to say 'which John Green book did you get?' and then I remembered... It doesn't matter! You'll enjoy it anyhow! :) And no... :'( But I must read I Am The Messenger!
DeleteI HATE it. No joke. It's the worst thing I've ever read in my whole life, I'm not even going to finish it. It's called "Will Grayson Will Grayson", have you read it??? If you haven't don't......
DeleteOh, it's one of the two I haven't read. I can definitely recommend The Fault in Our Stars, Looking For Alaska and Paper Towns though!
DeleteDON'T READ IT! I'm gonna try to read The Fault in Our Stars but that book almost turned me off forever!
DeleteI tried I Am the Messenger but the accent of the characters threw me off. I will have to try it again sometime just because it's by Zusak. My favorites include only J.K. Rowling because I haven't read that many of the others books. Only one each actually.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I see where you're coming from, but I'll still give I Am the Messenger a go! And, yes JK Rowling is brilliant, isn't she?
DeleteI think we have the same the favourite authors! They are all incredible. I've read the Book Thief but I need to I Am The Messenger. I would probably add Lauren Oliver to my favourite author list as well for me.
ReplyDeleteYay! Virtual high-five for having the same favourite authors!
